After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Washington County, the Lincoln County Red Devils were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 60-22 blowout they got at home against Taliaferro County. That looming 60-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lincoln County yet this season.
Lincoln County was led to victory by Mekhi Wade and Jaiden Dukes. Wade scored 13 points, while Dukes scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Carlin "RJ" Crite, who scored eight points.
Taliaferro County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Omareon Weaver, who scored six points along with seven rebounds. Tyriq Long was another key contributor, scoring a point along with 11 rebounds and nine blocks.
Lincoln County's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Taliaferro County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Washington-Wilkes the next time they take the court. Lincoln County will head out to face Washington-Wilkes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Taliaferro County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
