Evans and Singer are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2017, but likely not for long. The Eagles will face off against the Hornets at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Evans has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Evans is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Plainview just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 20-4.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Singer ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past LaGrange 13-12. Considering the Hornets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Kaiden Richard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Richard was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyler Arndt, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kohlson Moore, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Singer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .549. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Evans' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Singer, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-5-1 record.
Evans couldn't quite get it done against Singer when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 5-2. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
