1A-1 Region I District 2 recap October 8, 2013
Sundown scaled the state rankings by moving to 770 from 828 this week, the biggest jump in 1A-1 Region I District 2. The Roughnecks were able to move up by beating Forsan 40-2.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, New Deal beat Slaton 35-12. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Tahoka's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tristan Hilger has thrown for 431 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Kordell Baker has 9 catches for 179 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Tahoka takes on New Deal. The Bulldogs' offense has racked up 132 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Ron Mayo's team has allowed only 71 on the year.
A big matchup in 1A-1 Region I District 2 this week will be when Tahoka takes on the Lions. John Cornelius' team is currently in third, while New Deal is in first.
Hale Center and Crosbyton played the closest game in the league this week, with Hale Center eventually emerging with a 46-44 victory.
