Softball Game Preview: North Mason Bulldogs vs. Port Angeles Roughriders

North Mason is 1-9 against Port Angeles since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Roughriders at 4:15 p.m. North Mason is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

While North Mason's victory against Bainbridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Spartans 6-5 on Thursday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Taylor Madison was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Charlee Brown also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

North Mason was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bainbridge only posted a batting average of .241.

Meanwhile, Port Angeles entered their tilt with Bremerton on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

North Mason pushed their record up to 12-6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Port Angeles, their record now sits at 14-2-1.

North Mason couldn't quite finish off Port Angeles when the teams last played back in April and fell 6-4. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
