After a string of five wins, the Rich Township Raptors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thornton. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (60), Rich Township still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Rich Township still got an impressive performance from Samar Bures, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Coleman, who scored 10 points.
Leading Thornton to victory were Morez Johnson and Isaiah Green. Johnson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds, while Green scored 24 points along with 6 rebounds. The matchup was Johnson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Chase Abraham was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Rich Township's defeat dropped their record down to 5-1. As for Thornton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Rich Township will head out on the road to face off against Simeon at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Simeon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Rich Township is ranked 32nd). Thornton will take on Normal Community in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on December 16th at.
