The Browne Bruins were the 63-62 winner over the Maryvale Panthers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The game between Browne and the Panthers wasn't particularly close, with the Bruins falling 73-54. Browne has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Browne lost on Monday, one person who can't be blamed is Desmyn Beavers-smith. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Adam Chaffin was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five blocks.
Avy Luna mena had an outrageously good game for Maryvale as he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Stubbs, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists.
Browne has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Maryvale, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Browne will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Camelback focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday. As for Maryvale, they will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alhambra is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
