The University Trailblazers will head out on the road to face off against the Carroll Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
University struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (Indianapolis Bishop Chatard had 17 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. University took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indianapolis Bishop Chatard.
Despite the loss, University saw an underclassman step up: Charlotte Conyers scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Anyah Jordan-Turley, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Carroll waltzed into their matchup Monday with five straight wins but they left with six. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 59-31 win over Northwestern. The result was nothing new for Carroll, who have now won seven games by 23 points or more so far this season.
Alli Harness was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with eight assists and three steals. The match was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Wagner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
University's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Carroll, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: University have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 20.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Carroll, though, as they've been averaging only 32.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
