The HomeSchool Resource Center Patriots fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Northside L Lions on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 73-66 defeat to the Lions. HomeSchool Resource Center's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason O'Neal, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. O'Neal scored a full 31.8% of HomeSchool Resource Center's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Fredrick Jefferson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, HomeSchool Resource Center were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside L only racked up 21 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northside L to victory, but perhaps none more so than CAM BRUNK, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. BRUNK continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of LANDON KARNES, who scored 16 points.
HomeSchool Resource Center has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Northside L, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.
HomeSchool Resource Center won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool at 12:00 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday. Northside L will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Indianapolis HomeSchool Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th.
