Glens Falls' and the Tigers' match on Monday was close at halftime, but the Indians turned on the heat in the second half with 30 points. Glens Falls was the clear victor by a 51-31 margin over the Tigers. Given Glens Falls' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Tigers are ranked 492nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Glens Falls' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sarah Wolfstich led the charge by scoring 11 points. Another player making a difference was Darielle Gooden, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Scotia-Glenville entered their tilt with the Sir Bills with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Scotia-Glenville blew past the Sir Bills 71-11 on the road on Monday.
Scotia-Glenville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karaline Mccarthy, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten steals. Jess Bodden was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Glens Falls' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Scotia-Glenville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Glens Falls and the Tartans were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January, but the Indians came up empty-handed after a 40-39 defeat. Can Glens Falls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
