The Raritan Rockets will face off against the Neptune Scarlet Fliers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Raritan is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since May 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Red Bank Regional, sneaking past 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Alan Warren tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Travis Evernham was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Antonio Lamberti was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Neptune hadn't done well against Freehold Township recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Scarlet Fliers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Patriots. The Scarlet Fliers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Hunter Morgan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Morgan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Javier Lemus, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Trevor Rummel, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Raritan now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Neptune, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Raritan was able to grind out a solid win over Neptune when the teams last played back in April of 2016, winning 6-2. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Scarlet Fliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
