Basketball Game Preview: Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans vs. Wagener-Salley War Eagles

Ridge Spring-Monetta and Wagener-Salley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans will challenge the Wagener-Salley War Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ridge Spring-Monetta has three straight wins, Wagener-Salley has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Ridge Spring-Monetta will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Williston-Elko, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Ridge Spring-Monetta pulled ahead with a 44-43 photo finish over Williston-Elko on Saturday.

It was another big night for Ny'Asia Young, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 23 boards. Young is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ruby Powell, who posted four points and 15 rebounds.

Ridge Spring-Monetta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Wagener-Salley came up short against Pelion back in December of 2024 and fell 39-28.

Ridge Spring-Monetta's record now sits at 7-5. As for Wagener-Salley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
