2A Tri-River recap October 1, 2013
Central Linn was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in 2A Tri-River. Earlier in the week, the Cobras triumphed over Santiam 48-20.
Kennedy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,790 from 8,781. The improvement was the result of a 49-0 victory over Toledo last week.
Jeremiah Grieser provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Regis bested Waldport. Grieser's favorite target this week was Matt Wiltsey, who caught 2 passes for 36 yards.
Grieser was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 170 yards on 27 carries as the Rams topped the Irish. Adair Pelayo also contributed to the rushing game with 45 yards on the ground.
Waldport's Trenton Marquart and Kraig Pruett have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Marquart has thrown for 629 yards this season, while Pruett, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 14 catches for 282 yards. Grieser from Regis leads the league in rushing with 938 yards.
Tom Beckett's team's Grieser is a mere 62 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 147 carries Grieser has accumulated 938 yard this year.
The Rams' offense has scored 162 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Bulldogs have allowed only 70 on the year.
A big matchup in 2A Tri-River this week will be when Central Linn takes on the Trojans. Richard Hillsman's team is in second place, while Kennedy is in fifth place.
Randy Traeger's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on the Boomers.
