The Jeffersonville Red Devils will head out to challenge the Brownstown Central Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Jeffersonville gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Jennings County with a sharp 11-1 win. The Red Devils not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 14-2).
Carter Williams spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Jeffersonville: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jeffersonville let Braylen Gray and Carter Durbin run wild. Gray went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Durbin went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Gray a new career-high. Aidan Toler also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Jeffersonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 8.8.
Meanwhile, Brownstown Central entered their tilt with Corydon Central on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 11-6.
Lane Pendleton made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Pendleton was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Grant Killey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Brownstown Central pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Jeffersonville, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
