The WestSide Renegades came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 46-41 victory over Independence. That's another feather in the cap for WestSide, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Independence's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alli Hypes, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hypes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmony Mills, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
WestSide's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Independence, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-3.
WestSide does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Independence, they will be playing at home against Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Independence is facing Liberty at the right time seeing as Liberty is stuck on a eight-game losing streak.
