Basketball Recap: Jace Grover Key Part of a Team Effort in Comets Win

International Community won against New Dimensions on Monday with 62 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The International Community Comets came out on top against the Calvary Christian Academy Lions by a score of 62-53. The score was all tied up 29-29 at the break, but the Comets were the better team in the second half.

International Community's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Grover, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 22 points. Those 22 points gave Grover a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Woodruff, who posted 11 points along with five boards and five steals.

International Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian Academy only posted seven assists.

Calvary Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ledaruen Wiggins, who put up 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Wigley, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

International Community now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they moved to 7-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

International Community will take on Trinity Prep in a tournament on Friday. International Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
