Avon is 1-9 against Westport since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Avon Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Westport Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Avon has three straight victories, Westport has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Avon can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Calvary Chapel Academy 69-34 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-13.
Josiah Guerrier and Thomas Edwards were among the main playmakers for Avon as the former dropped a double-double on 16 points and 22 rebounds and the latter shot 8-for-14 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Edwards pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Irby, who scored seven points along with 17 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Westport was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 52-46 to Carver.
Avon's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Westport, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-22 record this season.
