Basketball Recap: Glendale Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Victor Rodriguez and Simon Sinohui

Glendale lost against Independence back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Glendale Cardinals took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Independence Patriots.

Glendale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Simon Sinohui, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and three steals, and Victor Rodriguez, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Rodriguez has posted since back in January of 2024. Emmanuel Yanez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Anthony Colonna continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Independence, putting up 18 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. James Davis was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Glendale's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Independence, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-5.

Glendale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-45 defeat against Copper Canyon on the 23rd. Independence has also already played their next contest, a 63-61 win against Sierra Linda on the 23rd.
