The Agua Dulce Longhorns proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 27) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Kaufer out 31-29. The win made it back-to-back wins for Agua Dulce.
Agua Dulce's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Vinton, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Vinton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Deaver, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Agua Dulce has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. As for Kaufer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-14.
Agua Dulce will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Santa Maria: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while the Longhorns have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. Kaufer will take on the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Villa is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
