4A Region IV District 31 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Flour Bluff extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region IV District 31 this week by beating Ray, 35-25. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Hornets.
Alice moved up to 481 from 548 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Coyotes were able to make move up by defeating Nixon 57-14.
Preston Valenzuela was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 213 yards as Alice lost to Alice. Teammate Robert Ramos added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.
Marcus Mosley threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns. He was 10-19 with one interceptions.
Perez was the best wideout in 4A Region IV District 31 this week as Nixon fell to Chris Soza's team. Perez tallied five receptions for 126 yards. Jorge Fraga helped Nixon's passing attack out by catching three balls for 38 yards.
On the ground, Tommy Ramirez's team's Richie Rendon has rushed for 606 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Perez. The Nixon star has 58 catches for 815 yards.
Going into this week's game against Martin, the Mustangs' Ralph Perez needs 78 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Perez has thrown for 1922 yards with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Miller takes on the Coyotes. As it stands, the Buccaneers are in fifth, while Alice is in third.
The Tigers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,411 from 10,377. The improvement came about via a 62-27 victory over Moody last week.
