The Mancos Bluejays came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Thomas MacLaren School 69-51.
Mancos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brian Veach, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Medina, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Thomas MacLaren School lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Montgomery. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with two steals. Beckett Shannon was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Mancos pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Thomas MacLaren School, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mancos on the road again on Saturday and play against Sanford at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. As for Thomas MacLaren School, they will take on Fountain Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fountain Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Thomas MacLaren School likes a good challenge.
