The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Rock Creek Christian Academy White came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Calvert Hall is ranked 64th).
Calvert Hall had a senior duo take command as Brendan Johnson scored 28 points along with seven steals and two blocks and Tyrin Bizzelle scored 23 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Calvert Hall's points. Another player making a difference was JT Taggart, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Rock Creek Christian Academy White's loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Calvert Hall, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.
Rock Creek Christian Academy White will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mt. Zion Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Calvert Hall won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Boys Latin at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. One thing working in Boys Latin's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
