It was a good run, but the Hillsborough Terriers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Wharton 50-46. While losing is never fun, Hillsborough can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Wharton is ranked 88th).
Hillsborough lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jojo Cruz-Smartt, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellayna Stephens, who scored ten points.
Hillsborough's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Wharton, they pushed their record up to 19-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Hillsborough won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Leto at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Leto has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Wharton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bloomingdale at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
