The Buffalo Bison will head out to take on the Groesbeck Goats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Buffalo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Buffalo was able to grind out a solid win over Elkhart, taking the game 10-7.
Ella Ortiz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Ortiz was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Stone, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Yana Bharat, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Groesbeck's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairfield.
Kaidance Hutchison made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
Buffalo's record now sits at 12-16. As for Groesbeck, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11-3.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Buffalo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .528. However, it's not like Groesbeck struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Buffalo might still be hurting after the 24-12 defeat they got from Groesbeck in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
