Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Marion Eagles walked away with it. They managed a 42-36 win over Lake Linden-Hubbell on Saturday. The win was just business as usual for Marion, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Marion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Prielipp led the charge by rushing for 209 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also picking up 50 receiving yards. Prielipp really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Another player making a difference was Colin Mccrimmon , who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Marion's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Lake Linden-Hubbell, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Marion will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Lenawee Christian. Lenawee Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Marion likes a good challenge. Lake Linden-Hubbell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
