Beau Heck
Beau Heck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Spencer is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise. Heck was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Ty Brown was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brody H, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
South Spencer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast Dubois struck out six times.
Meanwhile, Heritage Hills didn't have quite enough to beat Floyd Central on Monday and fell 4-2. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Colten Hopf was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
South Spencer's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9. As for Heritage Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
