The Marion Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Randolph Ro-Hawks at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Randolph likes a good challenge.
Marion scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 88-48 victory over Luling. Marion has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braeden Fleming, who scored 19 points along with five assists and five steals. Fleming hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Randle, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Randolph suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Cole 84-34. While losing is never fun, Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1144th, while Cole is ranked 288th).
Marion's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Randolph, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Marion didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Randolph in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 39-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marion since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
