The North Plainfield Canucks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Metuchen. North Plainfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Metuchen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Metuchen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Matt Smith out in front who scored 14 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Santus, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
North Plainfield has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Metuchen, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
North Plainfield will head out on the road to take on Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Edison is ranked 320th, while North Plainfield is ranked 297th). As for Metuchen, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Dunellen at 11:00 a.m. Dunellen is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
