The Wilsonville Wildcats came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Canby 70-29 at home. Given Wilsonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Canby is ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wilsonville found their leader in underclassman Gabi Moultrie, who scored 20 points along with nine assists and three steals. Moultrie hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Audrey Counts, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Wilsonville's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. As for Canby, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilsonville will play host again and welcome Parkrose, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkrose has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Canby, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hood River Valley at 6:00 p.m.
