If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Algona. They will challenge Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. Algona are coming into the contest hot, having won five in a row.
Everything went Algona's way against Garner-Hayfield/Ventura last Friday as they made off with a 66-38 victory.
Meanwhile, we expected Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS to have trouble with the significantly higher ranked Southeast Valley, and they did. Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS ended up on the wrong side of a painful 13-36 walloping at Southeast Valley's hands. This makes it the second defeat in a row for Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS.
Algona's win lifted them to 5-0 while Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS's loss dropped them down to 2-3. We'll find out if Algona can add another positive mark to their record or if Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Algona's step.
