The Eagle Valley Devils''s four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Glenwood Springs and snuck past 19-16. The victory was just what Eagle Valley needed coming off of a 48-7 loss in their prior game.
Eagle Valley had a senior duo take command as Elias Pena rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries and Caiven Lake threw for 130 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Hasley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Joaquin Sandoval and Jerick Sorensen certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Sandoval rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown, while Sorensen picked up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Eagle Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Glenwood Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Eagle Valley will face off against Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Summit is ranked 118th, while Eagle Valley is ranked 126th). As for Glenwood Springs, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Palisade at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Palisade focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Friday.
