The Tri-County Cavaliers will head out on the road to square off against the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Tri-County had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt North White on Tuesday. The Cavaliers put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Tri-County got a massive performance out of Reese Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Dominguez, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Kouts made sure to put some runs up on the board against Morgan Township on Monday. The Mustangs & Fillies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Cherokees. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs & Fillies have posted since May 2, 2024.
Cheyanne Bailey and Sophia Tikalsky did most of the damage at the plate: Bailey went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Tikalsky went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Tikalsky's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Gronek, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Kouts lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Tri-County's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Kouts, their record now sits at 3-4.
Kouts' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tri-County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .415. It's a different story for Kouts, though, as they've only averaged .215. Will they be able to contain Tri-County's hitters?
Tri-County came out on top in a nail-biter against Kouts in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 14-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
