The Battle Ground Academy Wildcats will challenge the Nashville Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Battle Ground Academy at home against Maplewood as the team secured a 69-3 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Panthers are ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kaedyn Marable had a dynamite game for Battle Ground Academy, throwing for 294 yards and six touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Kellum, who gained 47 total yards and four touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Battle Ground Academy's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Nathaniel Fleming and Jayden Cannon who racked up six sacks between them. Meanwhile, Nashville Christian got themselves on the board against Innovation Academy on Friday, but Innovation Academy never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 70-0 victory over the Sentinels on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 63 point advantage.
Nashville Christian can attribute much of their success to Jared Curtis, who threw for 190 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. Brock Haywood was another key player, picking up 75 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Nashville Christian wouldn't let Innovation Academy keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Landon Travis, Brystol Adams, and RJ Perkins picked up one apiece. Perkins also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making six total tackles (1.0 for loss) which he returned for a touchdown.
The win made it two in a row for Battle Ground Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Nashville Christian, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.
