The Fort Dorchester Patriots will square off against the Stratford Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Dorchester will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Fort Dorchester's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against East Forsyth by a score of 5-0. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-11-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Carson Ridgway looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Fort Dorchester let Lee Lovelace and Banks Wickersham run wild. Lovelace went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Wickersham scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Lovelace a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Hamilton, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Stratford hadn't done well against Ashley Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Stratford sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Ashley Ridge.
Jachin Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jason Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jameson Lee, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Stratford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ashley Ridge only posted a batting average of .240.
Stratford now has a winning record of 2-1-2. As for Fort Dorchester, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
