Greencastle is 0-8 against Edgewood since May of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tiger Cubs will welcome the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Greencastle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Greencastle didn't have quite enough to beat Monrovia and fell 9-8.
Treyten Clark was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Greencastle got a big performance out of Bryton Gregg, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Trevin Long was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Edgewood waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 10-0 shutout.
Gunnar Perry was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Edgewood is undefeated when Perry posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Will Lawson, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Edgewood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Edgewood's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Greencastle, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Greencastle has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Edgewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Greencastle couldn't quite finish off Edgewood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Will the Tiger Cubs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
