The North Fork Miners fell victim to the Strasburg Indians''s stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. Their tough 21-0 defeat to the Indians might stick with them for a while. North Fork just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Hunter Moreno threw for 118 yards on ten of 19 attempts. Lane Allen was his top target, gaining 80 total yards. On the ground, Payson Pene rushed for 91 yards on only 11 carries.
Landen Martin was his usual excellent self, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown. Another big playmaker for Strasburg was Austin Velasco, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
North Fork's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Strasburg, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
North Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Strasburg will head out on the road to face off against Gunnison at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gunnison will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
