On Thursday, Emporia didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Collegiate, but they still walked away with a 43-39 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Emporia.
Emporia was led to victory by Cooper Rech and Sheldon Stewart. Rech scored 17 points, while Stewart scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rech scored 15 or more points.
Emporia's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emporia will square off against Kapaun Mt. Carmel at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Kapaun Mt. Carmel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 608 points over their last nine matches. As for Collegiate, they will head out on the road to face off against El Dorado at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. El Dorado is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
