Sacramento Valley recap September 17, 2013
Mt. Shasta moved up to 867 from 910 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Sacramento Valley. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Hamilton 41-21.
Trinity took down Hoopa Valley 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Willows's dynamic duo of Wes Cundiff and Chris Walter proved to be unstoppable against Winters, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cundiff threw for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns and Walter had 133 yards receiving. Greg Dicharry helped Willows' passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 92 yards.
The Honkers' dynamic duo of Cundiff and Walter proved tough for the Warriors to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Cundiff put up the best numbers in passing as Willows bested Winters.
BRANDON ACORD was a passing and rushing force as Mt. Shasta fell to the Braves. He completed 7 passes for 175 yards and also ran for 28 yards. ACORD's key target this week was JONATHAN CLEMENS, who caught 4 passes for 108 yards.
Walter was the best receiver in the league this week as Jim Ward's team beat Daniel Ward's team.
Adolfo Ramirez was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 149 yards on 30 carries as Pierce defeated the Warriors. Teammate Saul Mendez added to the ground attack by rushing for 134 yards.
Leading Sacramento Valley in both passing and receiving yards, Jason Young's team's ACORD and CESAR GONZALEZ have proven to be a lethal combination. ACORD has thrown for 470 yards this season, while GONZALEZ has 7 catches for 180 yards. The Bears' Ramirez leads the league in rushing yards with 319.
Willows and Winters played the most contested game in the league this week, with Willows eventually emerging with a 28-27 victory. Walter threw for 48 yards and ran for 87 yards during the win.
