The San Marcos Rattlers pushed their score all the way to 68 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Braunfels. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (64), San Marcos still had to take the loss.
Several Rattlers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zyair Jolivette, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Jolivette has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Donavan Riddick, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
San Marcos has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-9 record this season. As for New Braunfels, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 25-3.
San Marcos will be playing in front of their home fans against East Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully East Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for New Braunfels, they will head out on the road to challenge Judson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Judson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while New Braunfels is ranked 25th).
