Basketball Game Preview: Owensboro Catholic Aces vs. Daviess County Panthers

Owensboro Catholic is 10-0 against Daviess County since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Owensboro Catholic Aces will square off against the Daviess County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Both are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Owensboro Catholic is headed into Friday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 70-67 heartbreaker at the hands of Owensboro. That's two games in a row now that the Aces have lost by exactly three points.

Owensboro Catholic might have lost, but man, Aubrey Randolph was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten boards. That's the most points Randolph has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Mannahan, who went 5 for 8 en route to 16 points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Daviess County duked it out withEdmonson County on Tuesday. Daviess County fell just short of Edmonson County by a score of 49-47.

Daviess County now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Owensboro Catholic, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-5.

Owensboro Catholic beat Daviess County 55-46 when the teams last played last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Owensboro Catholic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
