Basketball Recap: Warwick Beats Larimore for Their Third Straight Victory

Warwick proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 36) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 victory over the Larimore Polar Bears. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Warwick's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Feather Jr, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The game was Feather Jr's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Anthony Touche Jr was another key player, putting up 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Warwick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the defeat, Larimore saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Baron Burns went 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and six boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burns has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Collison, who posted ten points and five boards.

Warwick's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Larimore, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Warwick won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Devils Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Devils Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Warwick likes a good challenge. As for Larimore, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
