Division II AA - East/Middle recap Sept. 26, 2012
Montgomery Bell Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in Division II AA - East/Middle. The Big Red vanquished Pearl-Cohn 50-14 earlier in the week.
Ensworth extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Battle Ground Academy, 34-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Tigers.
Ensworth's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Andrew Bowers threw for 62 and one touchdown and Jourdan Swett had 25 yards receiving. On the ground Cornelius Elder chipped in 196 yards. Henry Royse helped Ensworth's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.
Ensworth's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bowers has thrown for 789 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Myles Pasley has 13 catches for 318 yards. Elder leads the league in rushing with 1184 yards.
The marquee game in Division II AA - East/Middle this week will be the clash between Brentwood Academy and Baylor. The Eagles comes into the matchup ranked fourth in the state, while the Red Raiders ranks 15th.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Ricky Bowers's team takes on Pope John Paul II. The Tigers' offense has scored 267 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Knights have allowed only 147 on the year.
Montgomery Bell Academy took down the Firebirds 50-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
