The Youngker Roughriders pushed their score all the way to 31 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 43-31 to Glendale. Youngker has not had much luck with Glendale recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Youngker still got an impressive performance from Jantzen Ginger, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jacob Lira, who threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns.
Glendale was led to victory by Jesus Garcia and Zechariah Owens. Garcia gained 275 total yards and three touchdowns, while Owens rushed for 227 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Owens really tore up the turf during one magnificent 97-yard run.
Youngker's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Glendale, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Youngker will square off against Greenway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Carlos Toscano and Ginger. As for Glendale, they will head out on the road to face off against Moon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Moon Valley is ranked 103rd, while Glendale is ranked 93rd).
