Desert Ridge and Red Mountain are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Desert Ridge Jaguars will host the Red Mountain Mountain Lions at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Desert Ridge will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Desert Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Camelback get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory on Tuesday. While the Jaguars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jersay Overman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacee Larson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Overman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Desert Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Red Mountain hadn't done well against Pinnacle recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Red Mountain came out on top against Pinnacle by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mountain Lions.
Kendall Cochran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Ftizpatrick, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Nina Montenegro was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Red Mountain's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14 runs. As for Desert Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Red Mountain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Desert Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .567. It's a different story for Red Mountain, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Desert Ridge's hitters?
Desert Ridge might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Red Mountain in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Desert Ridge have more luck at home instead of on the road?
