Baseball Recap: Caroline Comes Up Short

If Caroline was feeling good fresh off their 22-3 takedown of James Monroe on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cavaliers lost 14-5 to the Spotsylvania Knights on Thursday. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Alex Thomas made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tavaris Parker, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Caroline's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Spotsylvania, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Caroline will venture away from home to challenge Culpeper County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Cavaliers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Spotsylvania, they will challenge Dinwiddie at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Generals have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
