The Argonaut Mustangs will challenge the Bradshaw Christian Pride at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Argonaut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Argonaut had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but East Union put an end to it on Saturday. The Mustangs lost 8-0 to the Lancers. The match marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Bradshaw Christian hadn't done well against Union Mine recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Pride sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Diamondbacks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pride have posted since April 29, 2024.
Kaylee Hand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bradshaw Christian got a massive performance out of Lexi Ortiz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Avery Slater, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bradshaw Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Bradshaw Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Argonaut, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-5 record.
Everything went Argonaut's way against Bradshaw Christian in their previous meeting back in March, as Argonaut made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pride turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
