Pocatello has gone 9-1 against Preston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Thunder will challenge the Indians at 3:30 p.m. Pocatello is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
While Pocatello's victory against Century wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Thunder sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Diamondbacks: they've now won three in a row.
Pocatello got a great performance from Carson Allen as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Andersen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted over his last 11 contests.
Pocatello hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Preston fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Malad on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 3-2. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aidyn Thomson put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 7.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
Thomson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Conner Thomson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Pocatello's record is now 12-9. As for Preston, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1.
Pocatello got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Preston by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunder since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
