Austin is 2-8 against Bowie since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Austin Maroons will head out on the road to face off against the Bowie Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Austin has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Bowie will arrive with three straight victories.
Austin fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Dripping Springs on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Tigers 64-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Maverick Larson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Baur Lloyd, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Bowie strolled past Dripping Springs with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 61-43.
Austin has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Bowie, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
Austin came up short against Bowie in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 51-42. Can Austin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
