Union Mine is 10-0 against Rosemont since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Union Mine Diamondbacks will be playing at home against the Rosemont Wolverine at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Union Mine's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Union Mine stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Liberty Ranch 82-57. Given Union Mine's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Liberty Ranch is ranked 817th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Union Mine can attribute much of their success to Isaac Zmerzlikar, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds, and Nate Sweet, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Sweet has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Gines, who scored seven points along with 13 assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Rosemont waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They had just enough and edged El Dorado out 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Rosemont has posted yet this season.
Union Mine's victory was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.6 points per game. As for Rosemont, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
Everything came up roses for Union Mine against Rosemont in their previous matchup on January 9th as the team secured a 83-56 win. Will Union Mine repeat their success, or does Rosemont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
