Football Game Preview: Summer Creek Bulldogs vs. Vandegrift Vipers

Two dominant signal callers in Blake Thomas and Miles Teodecki are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Summer Creek Bulldogs will challenge the Vandegrift Vipers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Summer Creek is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They breezed by Kingwood to the tune of 51-7. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Mustangs are ranked 72nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Summer Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamicah Jones, who picked up 127 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Jones a new career-high. Summer Creek also got a significant boost from Keshawn Jackson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 94 yards.

Meanwhile, Vandegrift came tearing into Friday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Hawks 47-14.

Summer Creek better keep an eye on Teodecki. He was instrumental in Vandegrift's win, throwing for 259 yards and five touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also rushing for 36 yards. Teodecki has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Gavin Koester did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 79 receiving yards.

Vandegrift didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Hollister Stephens, Ian Witt, and Matthew Draeken picked up one apiece.

Vandegrift's record now sits at 13-1. As for Summer Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
