Shady Spring is 9-1 against Liberty since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Shady Spring is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Shady Spring is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 13, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against Steele, falling 11-1.
Shady Spring saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Joyce, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Liberty made sure to put some runs up on the board against WestSide on Wednesday. The Raiders were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Renegades. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.
Maddie Cox was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Liberty let Alyssa Scarbro and Katie Mullens run wild. Scarbro scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Mullens scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Mullens has posted since back in March of 2024. Emma Hartshorn was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Shady Spring, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Shady Spring took their victory against Liberty in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
